Fall Pheasant

Well, I finally finished this painting.  I am still not real happy about one spot, but I keep trying different things and this was the best so far.  I hope I decide that I like it well enough to leave it be.  I will look at it for a few days and then I will know for sure.  I have already been busy setting up another still life for my next painting.  Can't wait to get started!

New Painting..... "End of the Season"

I finished another painting yesterday.  It is done in Acrylic on 140 lb. Arches watercolor paper.  Got it all matted and framed.  I tried three different frames before I finally got the right one.  It is double matted with a cream colored and a dark green mat.  The frame is oak. It is pretty heavy but I thought glass would be better than plexiglass.  I did this painting in a new style that I learned about at a lecture that I went to.  I am very happy with the results, even though I had to take out some of the background to get the mats fit properly.  Long story.....  But I am ok with it all.

Mind control

I bought the boys (and yes, me too!!) a Star Wars Force Trainer.  It is absolutely amazing!  You move a little ping pong ball up a tube with your mind.  I never thought I would see the day when they made a game that you can play with just your brain waves.  It is so different.....more like sifi than reality.  But it really does work.  When Garrett put the headset on, the ball went directly to the top of the tube!  Fast and furious.  I didn't know he concentrated so hard!  He hasn't done it since then.  I, on the other hand have a really hard time starting the ball to move at all.  Then when I finally get it to move and try to make it hover in one spot or another, it drops.  Then I ;have to start all over again!  This is on the free play mode.  Sam has started his Jedi training and can get through the first level with no problem.  He can make the ball go to any level he wants it to go to.  He can move it up and down at will.  It is really quite amazing.  This is one amazing toy.  I would get it in a heart beat if I had it to do all over again!

Cold Season

I have been down for the count.  I have a horrible cold.   Just doing what I have to, getting ready for the studio cruise on Friday.  I made some glass beads today for it.  There were a couple different ones, but mostly they are pumpkins.  I made some cute earrings and necklaces out of them.  I am hoping to sell some at Gallery North as well.  We will see how that goes!

New technology

I have been working on my computer all morning when I thought I would be on for around a half hour.  I am learning to use my new macbook laptop which I love, but when it comes to printing things out, I can do it a LOT faster on my old PC.  It seems to take me three times as many steps to get what I want and how I want it than it does on the other computer.  Maybe because I am not as mac savvy as I was PC savvy.  I guess I can't  learn any younger (as my mother always said!!!)  I did get a lot done, but it just seems like such a waste when I could be in my studio making glass beads or painting.  I have much to get ready for the studio cruise on Friday.  And here I sit working on the computer!  Guess I had better get busy with other things.  First though, I am going to try to put up a link to the Studio Cruise website and a couple of pictures of my paintings and maybe glass beads!

Wednesday

I am at work and not busy at all.  I think everyone stayed home because the electricity kept going off.  I really thought I might be in the dark today but the lights did finally come back on!  I brought some things to do.  I plan to watch a video (on abstracting a landscape scene) and making cards.  That is what I fall back on whenever I am at work and it isn't busy.

Yesterday I had a man come over for a painting lesson.  He was a retired minister, and very interesting.  We worked on his acrylic painting for about an hour and then he left to go home and do some more.

I also sold a painting yesterday.  I have to go pick it up tomorrow (and replace it with another) because it is on display at the moment.

Tonight I get to visit more studios of local artists.  Can't wait.  It should be lots of fun!!

I did it!

Right or wrong, I think I have figured out how to put a picture in this. I think it always stays at the bottom though and that can't be right. I will have to work more on it tomorrow. Done for the night!

First Time Use

I am trying my best to get this blog working. Heaven only knows if I will ever get it right. I have so much to learn when it comes to doing this kind of thing. Today is such a cold day, I think winter is on it's way. Everyone but me seems to want to watch the Vikings game tonight. Me? I prefer to paint. I am headed there soon. Now I have to see if this will go up like it is supposed to. And the next thing I need to figure out is how to post a picture! We shall see..................
