Great Blue Heron

I had a lot of fun finishing this painting!! I used stencils and gause to put some extra texture in the sky. I also darkened the corners so the focus would stay on the heron. The Heron itself was really fun to paint with it's wings the way they are! He looks so carefree and graceful!!
I thought I would add a picture of what I am working on at the moment. I first put down some collage elements and let that dry overnight. Then I put some paint on. I used a lot of glazes to get the effect that I wanted. I also put down some visual texture in the form of some stencils used to represent clouds and water. And now it is time to go work on it again!

Common Ground

I'm sure a few artists and friends as well as others have watched the new PBS show "Common Ground" It features local artists and others and has art, history, and culture as their focus. This show started on Jan. 7, 2010. I was the featured artist along with my friend and artist, Angela Shogren. We had a lot of fun making our segment, which happened to be the debut of the show! Here is the link.
